The good thing about me bringing out the last round of Fantasy Acting League late is that you get the very next round delivered to you right away. And after two relatively tame rounds, we have a powerhouse one with several actors who were sitting on the bench finally getting up and doing something. Emma Stone, Meryl Streep and Jessica Chastain finally start scoring points, hopefully the first of a long line of successes. I do have some bad news though. After much deliberation, I have decided that Tom Hardy does not get double points for playing two people in the same movie. Funny gimmicks aside, it counts as one performance and will be marked accordingly (before you call cheat, I have Hardy on my own team, so I am shooting myself in the foot by adding this rule). And even worse… I am sorry, MovieRob. You scored a few points this month. You are joining in, like it or not!!!

ROUND ANALYSIS
Well, there were a few close calls there, weren’t there! Half of the scoring actors were trapped in terrible movies, but their performances managed to scrape a couple of points out of the wreckage. Jessica Chastain and Meryl Streep probably thought they were onto OSCAR- winners with their respective movies, but the screenplays tanked and ruined their chances of an award. However, no one could criticise their efforts and they were given due credit. Even Kate Mara couldn’t be blamed for the poor Fantastic Four, meaning that she got off with a consolation prize in the form of 5 points. A few players today will be breathing a huge sigh of relief that they managed to stay in the game.
But what a fight at the top! Last week, Verbal Spew came right up behind the leader of the pack, Cinema Parrot Disco and victory seemed a sure thing. However, in a total dick move by CPD, she matched Spew point for point this round. Spew knocked it out of the park with Man of the Month, Tom Hardy, in her team as well as Mara. 12 points is a good score. So what does, CPD do? Score 12 points herself… not only is she bound for victory, but she wants to flaunt it with the arrogance of a Bond villain, as she does so. However, this can only fuel Spew’s desire to get to the top. Or are there other contenders in the mix? Marked Movies has flown from the back of the pack to the top places, gathering a remarkable 17 points. He might be mid-table at the moment, but it is such a leap forward that you cannot help but keep an eye on him. And there is also the ever-dangerous Mr. Movie to watch out for, who is always silently just behind the winners. A few months ago, it looked like CPD’s to lose, yet now I cannot call who is going to end up the champion of the first ever Fantasy Acting League.
Interested in signing up next season? The call sheet will be going around in November, so get to thinking about your teams for next time, people!
