On August 4, 2015, U.S.VETS – Barber’s Point hosted an end of the year luncheon for their partners in the State Housing First Program. They successfully met their goal of housing 75 households in the first year of the program.  This included 65 Individuals with 10 families, 15 veterans, 60 non-veterans to include spouses and children. The Housing First Program provides immediate access to permanent housing and supportive services with a philosophy of client choice. It is a client driven program rooted for psychiatric rehabilitation, harm reduction, consumer movement, recovery oriented practices, and social justice for basic human rights for housing. The success of the program wouldn’t have been possible without the support and partnership from  Kallihi-Palama Health Center, Waikiki Health, Hawaii Pathways Project (Catholic Charities/Helping Hands Hawaii), PHOCUSED, and C. Peraro Consulting. LLC. Thank you for joining the fight to end homelessness amongst our streets of Oahu.
